The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, was founded in 1963, it is based in Gland, Switzerland. It is the world's most comprehensive inventory of the global conservation status of plant and animal species.

The IUCN links to the Catalogue of Life for taxonimic details. When a species has not yet been assessed for the Red List clicking on the Catalogue of life logo will open the CoL search results for this taxon.
